Torti what?

I apologize for being an absentee blogger. We've kinda had a lot going on lately. Anyhoo, I took Turner to the doctor two weeks ago because I noticed he only turns his head to the left. I thought I was probably just a crazy mom, but it turns out he has a condition called Torticollis. "Torti" meaning twist and "collis" meaning neck. No one knows for sure what causes it, but it is most likely from T's head being turned the same way all the time when he was squished in my belly. One neck muscle is nice and long and stretchy, while the other is tight.

Our Pediatrician referred Turner to a physical therapist at Children's Hospital, and he had his first appointment today. I learned some exercises to do with him several times a day to help strengthen his neck. The therapist was rather harsh with me about making sure I do the exercises. Apparently she didn't know what kind of mama she was talking to, because I am a rule follower. I will do everthing she says. Times ten.

Below are a few pictures from our wait in the office. Mommy was bored so I snapped some shots with my snazzy new phone.

Appropriatly enough, we were in the dinosaur room.

Turner was fascinated with the dinosaurs hanging from the ceiling.

This is what he saw.

First Date

T Rex had his first date a few days ago. It was a classy date at the book store. I got a shot of Turner and Ali, my friend Sharon's little one, while on their date. Ali's five weeks old and Turner thinks she's pretty cute. Can't you tell by his grin? Unfortunately Ali found Turner to be a little boring. Actually, he put her to sleep. I'm not sure why she wasn't impressed. I mean, with Turner's grins, grunts and stellar toots, I'd have thought she'd be mesmerized!

Pretty as a Shih Tzu?

Today we took Lucy Lou to the groomer for a spa day. She's going to look super cute when she returns. Anyway, the groomer thought Turner was adorable and said he has "eyes as pretty as a Shih Tzu." Really? I appreciate that my son has beautiful eyes, but I'm not sure how I feel about camparing them to a canine . . .

Ten on Tuesday

1. I joined Facebook against my better judgement. I was one of the last holdouts. I finally caved.

2. I'm very lucky that I get to stay home with Turner until November 15th. I do have to run a parent night on Thursday, and I'm a little nervous. I'm going to go in to school to prepare this afternoon. Turner will love it. He'll get to snuggle with my co-workers while I plan. They fight over who gets to hold him.

3. T Rex went to bed at 8:15 last night.

4. T Rex has really sensitive skin. He inhereited it from his mama. Sunday night, I slathered on some Aveeno Baby lotion and he woke up Monday morning with a rash all over his poor baby body. I gave him a bath and switched him back to the Aquaphor we had been using, and his skin is calming down a bit. Poor little man.

5. T Rex went on his first road trip to Bellefontaine this weekend. He did a great job riding in the car considering our 1 1/2 hour trip took an extra hour because there was a detour. Of course Daddysaurus couldn't take the posted detour, because he knows better than the road crew guys. Nope. instead Daddy kept insisting he knew exactly where we were as we weaved around country roads for way too long. Admitting he is lost is not Daddy's forte. We love him anyway.

6. We had a great time in Bellefontaine and Turner met Maggie, our big dog that my in-laws graciously adopted from us when I was pregnant with Big T. Maggie sniffed his toes, Turner smiled, and she went off to do her own thing. Apparently food on the floor is more intereating than her new brother.

7. We took the camera with us to Bellefontaine.

8. I didn't take any pictures.

9. My brain isn't functioning at 100%. The Bug's Mama and Daddysaurus might agree my brain is functioning at 50%.  . . on a good day. This is why there are no picture of T Rex from this weekend.

10. Since there aren't any pictures from this weekend, here is one from the archives. Love at first sight!

Smile!

This was one of Turner's first real smiles, and  I was lucky enough to capture it. I think it is the most precious picture ever, and it makes me smile everytime I see his cuteness.

Tummy Time

It's recommended that babies sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of SIDS. Because of this, little ones need to spend awake time on their tummies to work on lifting their heads and building core muscles. For the first month or so Big T was not a fan of tummy time at all. Now, he has decided tummy time is great - for sleeping. He is not interested in lifting his head. As usual, I've talked to other mommies and researched online how to get T to lift his head while on his tum tum. The most common advice is to use a Boppy pillow to prop him up a little, so I gave it a whirl.

Turner taking a nap while on his tummy. What a peaceful little guy. If you look closely, you can see his pal Lucy Lou napping with him.

Showing off his mad head lifting skills on the Boppy.

Approximately 2 minutes later.

The prediatrician told me Turner should spend about an hour a day on his tummy. At two minutes a pop, we only have to have tummy time THIRTY more times today. I think we'll work our way up slowly!

T Rex and Daddysaurus

I snapped a few shots of Turner and Erik last week. I know they are not exactly high quality, but I'm no amateur photographer like my sister, the Bugs' Mama, so get used to it folks. At least I post on a regular basis, unlike said sister.

Daddy and Turner looking handsome.
Daddy and Turner looking _____________. Hmm, I can't think of a word to describe these frightening  interesting looks, so fill in the blank yourself. It's like MadLibs!

oh yes i did

It's The Bugs' Mama here.  Also known as Aunt LayLay to Big T, or Sissy to Mommysaurus.  I broke into T-Rex's blog today.  Well, I don't think its actually considered breaking in if you know the password, which you used to send yourself a guest post invite.  But anyway.  You may see me here from time to time as the T-Rex frequents our house and I sometimes snap some photos of the little guy while he's here.  I even find time to upload them to the computer once in awhile... just don't ask me to print them, because I won't find time... ask the Grammy :)~

I had to add another photo of Big-T in his Moby Wrap.  Again, Moby Wrap = BEST INVENTION EVER!  I didn't have one for the first two Bugs, but got one when Benny Bug was born and this is a definite must-have if you have a baby that likes to be held, or need to find a way to take 1, 2, or 3 children to the grocery and still have room in the cart for food.  We also found it works great in crowded places where a stroller would be a pain (i.e. The Newport Aquarium.)
