1 Year Pictures

Wednesday, T turned the big 0 - 1!There will be pictures of his two birthday parties to come. In the meantime, I'm posting some pics from his birthday boy photo session at Portrait Innovations.

I had his 3 and 6 month pictures taken there, and we were really happy with them. I got a random notion to take him to JC Penney for his 9 month pictures, and I was pretty disappointed. The lady was super rushed and kept missing good shots.

At Portrait Innovations, they take their time with Turner and take a bazillion pictures, so you are bound to get some good ones. Also, the studios are really big, so Mommy Turner doesn't feel so cramped and clausterphobic. Plus, for people who like instant gratification (and, really, who doesn't?) your pictures are ready in 20-30 minutes! You can't beat that!

Anyhoo, below are some of my favorites!

Oh, and on a somewhat unrelated note, I got mini blizzards for T and his cousins on his birthday. Kellan rode along to the DQ and was cracking me up. He refers to Turner was "Big Tsta," and I LOVE it! Also, there will be not photos of our blizzard party because Turner likes to scream at me as soon as he finishes a bite, so there is no time for taking pictures. Devouring sweets as quickly as possible is the name of the game for my little guy. Hmmm . . . I wonder who he inherited that from?

New Shoes

Turner got his first pair of big boy shoes at Stride Rite last week - Thank you Grandma Sue! He wore them right out of the store and walked all around the mall in them. He was so cute and got lots of smiles from our fellow mall patrons. We've been out in the cul-de-sac several times in them and he loves pushing his push toy and playing with rocks!

Turner's First Hair Cut

My dear sister has been giving me a bit of a hard time for not getting T's hair cut. I will admit, he had a bit of a mullett. I was putting off his hair cut because it's one more milestone that makes him seem like such a big boy - and, frankly, Mommy is not ready for that.

Wednesday I finally decided it was time, so my mom and I took Turner to Cookie Cutters by the Dayton Mall. I took Grammy along because I thought it could be a disaster and I might need back up. Turner does not always warm up to strangers immediately.

I was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived! Turner sat right down in the red car and Sherry, the nice hair dresser, turned on Mickey Mouse. T played with the steering wheel and was very content. He wanted to play with the comb, so Sherry gave him hers and got another out. He stayed occupied and was a very good boy! I was very proud of my little man!

We were there maybe 15 minutes, and it only cost $10! You can't beat that! we will definitely go back to Sherry at Cookie Cutters for our future trims!

First Dip in the Pool

I took Turner up to Grandma and Grandpa Steffen's pool over Memorial Day weekend. I thought he'd like it since he's so into bathtime. The first go around he did pretty well. He was a little clingy and wanted to be held or sit on the top step. We tried to put him in a floatie, but he wasn't having it.

He had all kinds of little toys to play with, but of course, two measuring cups were his favorites. He also did a good job keeping his sunglasses on his face which was shocking. He figured out how to get them off in the afternoon though, so I think our sunglass days are over.

After a nap, we got in the pool again, and he was much more comfortable. He seemed to really like his floatie. His buns kept wanting to float to the top making him float on his belly and his face would go into the water, so I had to hold his legs down. He floated around playing with his measuring cups for at least 15 minutes.

I'd say Turner's first pool day was a success!

Laugh & Learn Learning Home

The Easter Bunny hopped by Grandma and Grandpa Steffen's house and left Turner a Laugh & Learn Learning Home instead of a basket. Mr. T loves it and plays with it everyday in our living room. It's super cool. It has a doorbell, a light switch that turns on the porch light, a clock, mailbox, and even a radio with a traffic report, forecast, and two "stations" that happen to play only one song each - numbers and letters.

Turner loves, loves, loves to play with the radio. His favorite is the number station. Followed by the weather station. Turns out according to the report, there's a rainbow outside our window at all times!

Anyhoo, here are some pictures of T and his house. It was uber hot that day, but I couldn't bring myself to turn on the air, hence the diaper clad Tster.
