Turner's First Easter

The Easter Bunny was very good to Turner! He must have known Turner couldn't have candy, because he filled plastic eggs with peach puffs instead! He also got a stuffed Grover, a Little Tykes car, a few bath toys, and some new big boy spoons and forks. He did get a big chocolate bunny that Mommy and Daddy ate almost all of. T did have some licks, and I think he's going to be a chocoholic like his mama!

We were in a rush before church, so I didn't get any pictures of Turner in his Easter outfit, and I forgot my camera when we went to Bellefontaine, so the only pictures I have are of him exploring the goodies in his Easter basket. He's not in a very festive outfit because I didn't want chocolate all over his nice clothes!

Oh, and the Easter basket is mine from when I was growing up. My mom made it - in rather questionable colors I might add - but at least it's gender neutral so Turner can use it too!

Rub-a-dub-dub, Turner in the Tub!

Turner loves bathtime. He would play in the tub all day and all night if I'd let him. He squirts his squirty sea creatures, bangs his cups, and rattles his rattle. He also likes to investigate the sides of the tub and the bottles in the shower caddy.

He is not at all afraid of the water, which makes me a little nervous. He will stick his head under the faucet when it is running full-blast and then look at me and giggle! He doesn't mind having water poured on his head when I wash his hair either. He didn't inherit that trait from his mama. I remember HATING to have my hair washed until I was eight or nine years old!

9 Month Check-up and Pictures

Turner had his 9 month check-up last week. He was 19.6 lbs and 28.5 in., putting him in the 36th and 50th percentiles. He seems like such a big guy to me, so I was surprised by the percentiles, but I am comparing him to his cousin Benny who's rather tiny. Dr. K was pleased with his development all around and said he seems very bright and inquisitive. She said I'll have my hands full once he starts walking . . .I already do!

She also said I do need to let Turner have more finger foods and just to make sure I cut them into pieces about theh size of my pinky nail or smaller. So far he's had eggs, mixed veggies, bananas, olives, and graham crackers.

While I'm talking about T's development, he's also started drinking his afternoon bottle from a sippy cup. It's exciting for me and sad at the same time because he's growing so fast!

On another note, we had Tster's 9 month pictures taken at JC Penney last week and I wasn't super impressed with the experience. It was okay, but I prefer Portrait Innovations. They took a lot more pictures and had more ideas for poses and backgrounds. Also we get a cd of pictures from them. It was really expensive to get the cd from Penney's, so I can't put any of T's pictures on the blog or my facebook page.

I'm having trouble getting my pictures to download for some reason, so no pictures for now.

Finger Foods

I am a worrier by nature, and I have a big concern about finger foods. I am terrified Turner will choke. Now, as any worry wart would, I took the choking/CPR class (along with every other class available to expectant mommies) at Kettering before T was born. I have also re-read the protocol several times. But, it still just makes me really nervous. My heart is beating faster than normal as I type this! I know Turner can't have pureed foods the rest of his life, so I finally gave him some diced vegies and diced egg yolk the other day. He loved it and didn't choke - Whew! I'm hoping the dr. can help relieve my choking anxiety when I take T in for his 9 month appt. this week.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Last week I went to Vegas for three days for one of my best friends' wedding. I left Turner with Daddy - yikes!

2. Daddy did a pretty good job. Everyone was in one piece and laundry was even done!

3. Turner has never been a steller sleeper, and I had just gotten him on a pretty good routine and that didn't work out while Daddy was flying solo with the little man, so I am working on getting him back into his routine.

4. Turner had a pretty yucky cold the week before I left for Vegas. He was coughing and had a fever and a nasty nose. He was pretty pathetic for a few days. Luckily, he got better the day before I left.

5. It was SUPER hard to leave Mr. T when I went to Vegas, I cried most of the way to the airport and while I waited in line to get my ticket. I got lots of weird looks from high school kids going on a ski trip.

6. By the time I got on the plane I pulled it together. I missed T, but it was nice to relax and wake up on my own!

7. T got 2 more teeth while I was gone. He has 8 all together!

8. We had Turner's 9 month pictures taken on Friday. I can't wait to pick them up! He looked so cute - and so big! I'll post some of the pics soon.

9. Turner has decided he HATES getting his jammies on. Button up jammies are a HUGE battle. He screams and rolls around. I try to hold him down and sing or make noises to entertain him. I am sweating and exhausted by the time the jams are on, and he is a slobbery screaming mess. So, we are going with the zippered variety only from now on!

10. He has started pulling himself up and walking behind his new push toy. I can't believe how big Turner is getting! He is so darn cute!
